The mysterious Chemo Chick is actually the alter ego of Leslie Lehr, who is sick of pink mainly because it is a constant reminder of having cancer that she sure doesn’t need (the reminder or the cancer!)
Lehr is the award-winning author of the novels What A Mother Knows, 66 Laps, Wife Goes On and humorous parenting books including Welcome to Club Mom. Her essays have appeared in the anthology Mommy Wars, The Honeymoon’s Over, and Arianna Huffington’s On Becoming Fearless. She was the screenwriter for the romantic thriller Heartless and sold the script Club Divorce to Lifetime. She has a BA from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and an MFA from Antioch University. Leslie has two daughters and lives with her husband in Santa Monica.
Leslie’s newest novel, What A Mother Knows, debuted on May 1, 2013, during the exhausting, crippling period of chemo. Ironically, its characters include women–mothers, daughters and friends–journeying towards truth and healing. Not so different from our SickofPink Journey. Please visit Leslie on LeslieLehr.com.
The not-so-mysterious Karen J Rinehart spent over a decade exposing the foibles of her real life, much to the chagrin of her family, in her award-winning syndicated newspaper column. In 2012, she retired her column to focus on The Sandwich Generation–something in which she unwittingly became not just a member but an expert–especially in the area of becoming an Instant Caregiver for a loved one in a medical crisis. Naturally she wrote a handbook, Knitting With Hospital Gloves: A How-To Guide For Becoming Instant Caregivers, to steer others into that inevitable role. Stay tuned for her next handbook, Knitting With Bald Women : A How-To Guide for What Not To Say and What To Do.
Karen recently followed her husband from Charlotte, NC to South Bend, IN, where she added to her Sandwich Ingredients: Midwesterner; Instant Empty Nester, Notre Dame Fan and Collegiate Sports Widow.
Karen’s also written other books and such and you can read all about them on KarenJRinehart.com.
